Japanese Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador Mr. Mizushima Koichi on his visit to Jericho Agro Industrial Park

Jericho - 10/06/2021   Mr. Haytham Al-Wahidi, CEO of the Investment Promotion and Industrial Estate Agency, the Governor of Jericho and the Jordan Valley, Mr. Jihad Abu Al-Asal and Mr. Khaled Anabtawi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jericho Agro Industrial Park Developer Company received at the Jericho Agro Industrial Park today, H.E. Mr. Mizushima Koichi, Ambassador of Japan who was accompanied by the Ambassador of Japan to the State of Palestine, H.E. Mr. Masayuki Magoshi, and  the Head of JICA office in Palestine, Mr. Toshiya Abe alongside the accompanying delegation.

The CEO of the Agency welcomed the delegation and conveyed to them the greetings of H.E. Khalid OSAILY the Chairman of the Agency’s Board of Directors minister of national economy, explaining that the Agro Industrial Park is the first in the Middle East and that the Agency has provided investors, businessmen and businesswomen in the Agro Industrial Park with an attractive investment environment with integrated services and facilities that support industrialists for excellence and creativity through the palestinian prosperity center that will be in operation very soon to achieve the vision of the Palestinian government outlined in the national policy agenda and the development plan in clusters for the years 2021-2023.

Mr. Wahidi stressed that work on infrastructure development is continuing according to the schedule and project phases, to ensure the readiness of the industrial park in the first phase and the first part of the second phase to respond to the needs of industrial investment and demands on industrial lands, noting that the first part of the second phase will be developed within  Next year, with an area of 115,000 square meters which will receive about 40 new factories.

The Japanese Ambassador, Mizushima Koichi expressed his happiness to visit the industrial park, and confirmed that in between his last visit to the industrial Park eight years ago, and his most recent visit of today, he noticed that there are 16 new operating and producing factories. He added that the Japanese government will continue to provide support for this Palestinian project, stressing that all obstacles and challenges will be overcome collectively and together to support the Palestinian government and people.

Speaking about the investments in the industrial Park, the CEO expressed his satisfaction with the increasing turnout, as the volume of companies’ investments amounted to more than 22 M$, most of which are local and capital from the diaspora. A visit took place to the Palolea factory for herbal extracts and the Allison Factory for Pharmaceutical Industries.

As part of the program, the high level guest and his accompanying delegation  payed a visit to the site of the deep well, which was drilled with Japanese funding and aims to meet the water needs in the industrial park, and were received by Dr.  Moaz Abu Saada, advisor to the head of the Water Authority

and the mayor of Jericho, Salem Al-Grouf

In conclusion, the CEO confirmed that this visit comes in line with , investments climate empowerment and boost industry within the development plan of Agricultural and industrial clusters adopted by the government to overcome the obstacles facing local investments and attracting investment from the diaspora as per instructions of H. E. Minister Khaled Al-Ossaily, Chairman of the IPIEA BoD, and Minister of National Economy and the directives of H.E. Dr.  Muhammad SHTAYYEH, Prime Minister,  to achieve the vision of His Excellency Mr. President Mahmoud Abbas.
